The Bachelor of Engineering with Honours (BE(Hons)) is a four-year degree accredited by Engineering New Zealand, allowing the graduates to work as professionally qualified engineers all over the world. The civil engineers from designing to constructing infrastructures also commission wide range of facilities making the environment liveable and sustainable for humans.

Many civil engineers become experts in a specialised area of civil engineering such as structural, water, geotechnical, transportation, fire or environmental fields.
Some UC civil engineering graduates go on to run their own companies, enter into partnerships, or become researchers for government agencies or business.
Eligibility Criteria:
Academic
Students who have passed in 10+2 in mathematics, physics and chemistry are eligible for the Engineering programme at The University of Canterbury.
English Proficiency Score
- IELTS academic with an overall score of 6.0 not less than 5.5
- TOEFL (iBT) total minimum score of 80, with at least 19 in reading, writing and listening;
- TOEFL PBT with a minimum score of 550 and TWE with a minimum score of 4.5; CCEL EAP
- Pearson Test of English (Academic) – PTE with an overall score of 50 and no PTE communicative skills score below 42.
