IBT

TOEFL iBT Scores are Now Accepted for Skilled Migration in Australia

The TOEFL iBt is the most widely used English proficiency test.  The test is conducted at ETS approved test centres all around the globe.  It measures the ability of the non-native English speakers to understand and use English whether it is written, spoken, heard or read.  The test is widely recognized by more than 9,000 institutions, organizations and governments in 130 countries. The TOEFL iBT scores are used for admission, immigration, licensing and placement purposes.

The good news for the midwives and nurses is that the Australian Nursing and Midwifery Accreditation Council (ANMAC) will now accept TOEFL iBT scores.  This is welcoming news for the nurses and midwives because 17,000 places are available to be filled in and this will open up opportunities for the nurses to fulfill their English language requirements and gain better employment opportunities.  This information has come to forefront based on the 2016-2017 occupation ceilings released by the Department of Immigration and Border Protection.

Applicants must achieve a minimum total score of 94 in the TOEFL iBT test and following minimum scores in each section:-

  • Reading – 24
  • Listening- 24
  • Writing-27
  • Speaking-23

Qualified nurses and midwives can register to take test in any of the test centres worldwide.  More information about the registration process can be found on the official website of the ETS.  With this, there is an alluring opportunity for the nurses and midwives to settle in Australia under skilled migration.
