Type of courses in New Zealand after 12th
The first step in the process is of choosing a course. The students can choose to do either a bachelor’s degree or a diploma program in New Zealand for their further study.
Choosing a course that is a bachelor’s or a diploma would depend on your choice and your career preferences. If you choose to do a bachelor’s degree, then there is a post study work visa after completion of a bachelor’s program. If you choose to do a diploma program in New Zealand and would like to avail the post study work visa, then you must take care that you choose a course which is in the green list. If you choose a diploma course which is in the green list, then you would be eligible for a post study work visa. Whereas in bachelor’s degree, there is no requirement of the course being in the green list. So, the course you can do is a bachelor’s degree or a diploma program.
The students must also take care that they choose a relevant course. Relevant course means that the course they choose to study in New Zealand that is a bachelor’s degree or a diploma program must be a logical progression of their 10 plus 2. Let’s say that you are a student who has done his 10 plus 2 in commerce, then you may choose to do a bachelor’s in business, bachelors in accounting, Diploma in Business, Diploma in Accounting, Bachelor’s in Hospitality Management. So, depending on your 10 plus 2 subjects, you may choose a course, a bachelor’s degree or a diploma program.

Along with choosing a relevant course, you also need to choose where you would like to do this course. You may choose to do a course in
A university or
Institute of technology and polytechnics or
A private training establishment in New Zealand.
These are three types of education providers. Let’s say that you are interested to do a bachelor’s of business program in New Zealand. Now you can get bachelors of business program in a university in New Zealand or a New Zealand Institute of Skills and Technology in New Zealand or a private college that is a private training establishment. Students may choose to do a bachelor’s of business degree in either of three institutes. Admission process for study in New Zealand after 12th
Once you have decided the course you wish to study in New Zealand as well as the university or a college where you would like to do this course, the next step is to send the admission application to the university or college of choice. There is no application fee for getting admission into a New Zealand university or a college.
The students must take care that they send a complete application package. The complete application package would include your completed signed and filled application form and the evidence of your academic requirements and English language requirements. You need to send your 10TH certificate, 12 certificate and your IELTS certificate.
The band score in IELTS would depend on the course you wish to do in New Zealand. If you choose to do a bachelor’s program in New Zealand, then the requirement for most of the bachelor’s degrees in New Zealand is band score of overall 6 with no band less than 5.5 in any of the four modules. For diploma programs, the students may get admission with overall band score of 5.5.

New Zealand study visa documentation
Once the students get their offer letter, they need to prepare the visa documentation. There are certain requirements which the students need to meet to apply for the New Zealand study visa. The documentation requirement is divided into your academic documents, your English language documents, your financial documents, your medical documents and your police clearance certificate. As a part of the visa application process, the students need to show that they have enough funds for New Zealand study visa that is their tuition fee as well as cost of living in New Zealand. As per the policy of immigration New Zealand, the students are required to have evidence of their tuition fee and cost of living which is New Zealand dollars 20,000.
Let’s say that you choose to do a three years of program in New Zealand. As per the policy you are required to have access to liquid funds for first year of tuition fee, first year of cost of living and travel expense. So let’s say that the tuition fee is about New Zealand dollars 20,000 for one year. So you would be requiring 20,000 for your tuition fee, 20,000 for your cost of living and 1500 for your travel expense. The funds for subsequent years that is second year and third year could be shown as a payment plan which could include your family income proofs. Once you are ready with all the documentation for your New Zealand student visa, you submit your application online with Immigration New Zealand.
Applicants here must note that there is no requirement of paying your tuition fee before filing your visa application.
AIP – Approval in Principle NZ Student visa
In New Zealand, the students may pay their tuition fee after getting their approval in principle. On collecting the evidence of all the documents, you submit your application with Immigration New Zealand. Once your application is processed and decided and the case officer is satisfied with the documentation you have submitted with your application, you get AIP that is approval in principle of your application. This means there are certain conditions in your AIP which you must meet. The condition is of paying your tuition fee for one year. The students need to pay their tuition fee for one year from the funds which they have shown with their student visa application.
Some students may also get the requirement of FTS that is Funds Transfer Scheme. Under this FTS for New Zealand study visa the applicants need to transfer their cost of living that is New Zealand dollars 20,000 to an account in New Zealand. Once the students have fulfilled their requirements of AIP and on submitting the AIP requirements, the students finally get their e-visa. This e-visa authorizes them to travel to New Zealand to do their course of study.
