The academic requirements in Germany are a bit different for Public and Private Universities. The public or state universities in Germany provide free education to students but the admission criteria are higher as compared to the private Universities.
For admission to the Undergraduate program: the student needs to be mature, i.e. at least 19 years old to study in Germany. Must have completed 12th grade with 70% or above marks with 1 year of additional study. The additional study could be in the form of a diploma or a foundational course.
For admission to the Postgraduate program:
To get admitted to a public university the student is required to have 4 years of bachelor’s degree or 3 years of bachelor’s degree with additional 2 years of master’s degree or 1 year of diploma program. The student must have scored 70% marks in the previous qualification.
To get admitted to a private university students need to have a bachelor’s degree with at least 55% marks scored in it.
Apart from marks and degrees, students with work experience are often preferred.
English Language Requirements to study in Germany
For the undergraduate program, the required English language score for IELTS is overall 6.0 Band, with no band less than 5.5 in any of the four modules.
For postgraduate studies, the required IELTS score is an overall 6.5 band, with no band less than 6.0. In some private universities Overall IELTS score of 6.0, with no band less than 5.5 is also accepted.
