Description:

This diploma helps the students who want to hone animation skills. There is a strong stress on story and narrative, character design, animation principles and drawing. Students can select to study on a 2D or 3D pathway, but will love shared classes around the topics such as life drawing and storytelling.

Students will have a snapshot of different fields within the animation pipeline, with freedom for those who wish to enhance particular skills. Students can select to exit at the end of this year, or move into a Diploma in Specialised Animation.

Complete this course and you’ll get the New Zealand Diploma in Animation (Level 5).

Course details:

Start your animation training with an introduction to the theory and practice of animation skills with a Diploma in Animation. This course gives you the choice to discover the basics of character animation, pre-production, specialist software and performance animation, with anatomical knowledge at its very core.

Discover the fundamental knowledge and skills and launch your career as an animator, concept artist or 3D guru. This will help you to create some insanely cool stuff during studio sessions. You will learn how to build the knowledge of software, workflow and industry practice.

Work collaboratively, using the industry standard production pipeline to create an inspiring animation project with your other classmates.

Visual storytelling will be an important part of craft. We’ll teach you how to turn your concepts into storyboards and comics, and help you with some invaluable cinematography techniques. Your first year also comes with a dose of technology training – you’ll work with current industry standard software to develop your understanding of 2D and 3D animation mediums, and you’ll discover some mind-bending ways to use compositing.

    Eligibility criteria

    Academic eligibility:

    Student must have completed 10+2 in any stream and must have evidence of creative work.

    English language proficiency score:

    1. IELTS score of 5.5 with no less than 5

    SPEAKING – 5

    READING – 5

    WRITING – 5

    LISTENING – 5

    1. TOEFL Score of 46 is required with a writing score of 20
    2. PTE required score is 42
