Changes to Accredited Employer Work Visa New Zealand 2024

Accredited Employer Work Visa – AEWV for New Zealand from India is a visa category under which applicants with a job offer from an accredited employer may apply for a temporary work visa.

There are certain changes which are announced by Immigration New Zealand and these would be applicable to applicants submitting new applications from India. The changes are with regard to

  • Qualification requirements
  • Work Experience requirements
  • English language requirements

Below is the summary of the changes

You need to have either qualification or work experience if you would like to apply AEWV for New Zealand from now onwards.

You also need to provide evidence of your English language ability. Applicants must also note that the below requirements are in addition to the skill requirement your accredited employer may have for the job role he has offered to you.

Qualification requirements for Accredited Employer Work Visa – AEWV for New Zealand

You need to provide evidence that you have a qualification which is at least level 4 of the New Zealand qualification and credentials framework. Along with this applicants also need to provide IQA that is international qualification assessment from NZQA- New Zealand Qualification Authority along with their application for Accredited Employer Work Visa. In addition to this, the qualification must be in the relevant field or industry for which you have been offered the job to apply for AEWV visa.

Here the applicants must note that exemption to this qualification requirement applies under the following circumstances

  • If their job role is in the Green List and they fulfil all the Green List requirements
  • They earn twice the median wage salary
  • If applicants for AEWV visa have occupational registration

Work Experience Requirements Accredited Employer Work Visa – AEWV for New Zealand

Under the new setting, the applicants need to have 3 years of work experience. This work experience must be relevant to the job you have been offered in New Zealand. You must provide verifiable evidence of your 3 years of work experience. It is no longer accepted that you yourself describe your job duties. You need to provide evidence to support the work experience. Some of the evidence for work experience are pay slips, Salary in bank account, experience letters, income tax documents etc.

English language requirements Accredited Employer Work Visa – AEWV for New Zealand

For new applications now applicants need to provide evidence of their English language ability. The requirement is that you understand and speak English. As English is not the first language of Indian applicants, they may prove this by giving English language tests like IELTS or PTE or any other English language test acceptable by Immigration New Zealand. Both IELTS test modules that is academic and General Training are acceptable. The requirement is of overall band score of 4. Alternatively, the applicants can prove their English language ability by their country of citizenship or by acceptable qualification they may have done in a list of countries acceptable by INZ that is Immigration New Zealand. This English language requirement is applicable for people having job offer at ANZSCO level 4 or 5. Below ANZSCO level jobs 4 there is no requirement for English language to submit the application for Accredited Employer Work Visa.

Acceptable English language test by INZ for Accredited Employer Work Visa

Following are the English language test along with the score acceptable by Immigration New Zealand for Accredited Employer Work Visa from India

  • IELTS General Training or Academic module with overall band score of 4
  • IELTS one skill retake (OSR) with overall band score of 4
  • PTE Academic with overall score of 29
  • Occupational English Test OET with Grade D in all of the four skills
  • TOEFLiBT with overall score of 31
  • Cambridge English B2 first with overall score of 142
  • Cambridge English B2 first for schools with overall score of 142
