Enrolled Nurse
To be an Enrolled nurse a nursing qualification at level 5 on NQF is required. This must be accredited by the nursing council. Applicants also need to pass an assessment and examination of nursing council. The Enrolled nurses are required to practice under the supervision of a registered nurse or a nurse practitioner.
Registered Nurse
To practice as a registered nurse in New Zealand a qualification at a Bachelors level approved by nursing council of New Zealand is required. Alternatively a level 7 graduate nursing qualification or a post graduate qualification is also considered by Nursing Council. There is mandatory requirement of passing an assessment and examination by nursing council New Zealand. Registered nurses may work independently. They may also work in collaboration with other health professionals.
Nurse Practitioner
Nurse practitioners need to have advanced training and knowledge. The qualification required is Masters Degree accredited by Nursing Council.
