Banting Postdoctoral Scholarships are government-funded scholarship programmes that were launched on July 6, 2010. This scholarship grant is made to attract the best doctoral candidates to Canada. This is a fully funded scholarship with a value of CAD$70,000 per year for two years. The scholarship is available for international as well as native students. The grant is provided in order to develop their nation’s research potential to become a leader. The selection committee is highly selective, and this scholarship is ultimately rewarded to highly potential research aspirants who show leadership skills and synergy with the institution. The Vanier-Banting Secretariat takes care of the day-to-day registration programme.
The scholarship is granted to students who could contribute to the country’s economic, social, and research growth. 70 fellowships are awarded every year in this programme, and the areas in which these fellowships are granted are:

Vanier Canada Graduate Scholarships is another scholarship that is offered by the University of Canada for international students. The scholarship programme helps to attract highly qualified doctoral students. The value of this scholarship is $50,000 per year for three consecutive years during Doctoral Studies. There are three equally weighted selection criteria:
- Research Potential and Leadership ( potential and demonstrated ability)
- Academic Excellence
Eligibility Criteria: Students who are Canadian citizens, permanent residents of Canada, and foreign citizens are eligible in research areas like social sciences and humanities, natural sciences or engineering, and social sciences and humanities. These are some important research areas in which students can be granted scholarships. You must be nominated by any Canadian institution, and the college must have a Vanier CGS Quota. The scholarship aspirant should be pursuing his first doctoral degree. The student must have completed no more than 20 months of full-time study in his doctoral programme and 32 months of full-time study in his joint doctoral programme. Your chosen programme of study must include a significant research component that leads to the completion of a dissertation, research project, scholarly publication, performance, and thesis. Joint research graduate programmes are also eligible if they have a significant autonomous research component.
Canadian Government Scholarships are fully funded scholarships for international students that cover all academic disciplines. The scholarship enables all the students selected to study free of charge in Canada. The students can pursue a master’s degree programme with this scholarship. The Canadian Scholarship Programme was launched by Global Affairs Canada, which will offer scholarships for two years that lead to the Post-Secondary Level that leads to a Diploma, Post-Secondary or Post Graduate Certificate, and Master’s degree at a college, vocational or technical school, or any university in Canada. It grants between CAD $10,000 and CAD $12,000 for undergraduate and graduate courses.

The Karen Mckellin International Leader of Tomorrow Award is another fully funded scholarship that is offered according to the excellence in academics and financial need of the students. Wehrung International Student Award, the International Impact Award, and many other scholarships for international students.

- The students who are applying must be international students who will be studying in Canada on a Canadian Study Permit.
- The candidate must have graduated from high school no earlier than one year prior to the academic year you are applying to.
- If you are applying for a scholarship for an undergraduate degree, it must be your first.
- You must have the certificates showing your good academic performance in past years.

The University of Alberta offers scholarships based on admission. International students don’t need to apply for a specific scholarship.
